The Armenian Alphabet

Specifically: How various cultures use the typographic image.

Technical

  • How to build a ligature or the 27th letter using illustration software and the vector drawing tool.

Preparation 

  • Collect examples of type as used in logos and branding.
  • Begin to draw, based on the type specimens printed, 100 renditions of ligatures OR 100 possible renditions of the 27th letter of the alphabet.

Session 1

  • Continue thumb nail sketches of letterform

Session 1 Homework

  • Finish all 100 sketches

Session 2

  • Critique so sketches can be further developed in the computer.

Session 2 Homework

  • Using the supplied files of the fonts given, construct three ligatures or redraw three renditions your 27th letter of the alphabet in the computer.
  • Make six treatments each of three, put them in the template, print them and upload the digital version for critique.
