Welcome!

Every human being deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. May kindness never be taken as weakness, but as a strength for building a better world

LM

My Major in Mathematics at University of Tirana (Albania) since 1984 has allowed me to work as Teacher of Mathematics in Secondary Education for about ten years(Albania). My qualitative hard work and dedication as well as the continued professional development gave me the chance in the second decade of my career to be upgraded and promoted as “First Category Math Teacher”, Citywide PD Leader, and Assistant Principal until I came here in USA in December 2005.

Once I came to USA I was facing challenges, like everyone else, trying to adapt and integrate socially, economically, culturally, and professionally in american life. The love for my profession was demanding to my continuation of education. I studied English Language Arts and Computer Literacy at Globe Institute of Technology to get some Language and Computer skills before going to Masters Degree at Mercy College. During the time that I was studying for my Masters Degree at Mercy College I was preparing for New York State Teacher Certification Tests and taking them. Working as Substitute Teacher during these years, and later on as Teacher of Mathematics in different levels and schools in the City (NYC DOE) was a great experience.

I have always considered professional development a very important part of my professional life. The need for constant update with a new vision, pedagogical methods of teaching, technology incorporation, differentiated instructions, and assessments, etc have driven me to continue the education for the Gifted & Talented Program at Brooklyn College, online Webinars, workshops, and conferences related to CCSS, PARCC, College, Career readiness, blended learning, Math Labs, technology use in classrooms, and Leadership, etc.

I have been working in the Higher Education level since 2011 in many colleges and universities in NYC. In 2014, I started teaching at CUNY/City Tech and later on at BMCC, and I am currently teaching in both colleges. During this time have actively participated, presented, and co-presented in many CUNY conferences and broader. I have attended annual research conferences at the institutions where I am teaching and the CUNY central research conferences and IT conferences.

My Personal Statement of Education and Inclusion

I BELIEVE THAT TRUE EDUCATION IS NEVER JUST WALKING ON KNOWN ROADS, IT IS THE EXPERIENCE OF DISCOVERING AND BUILDING NEW BETTER ONES

My personal goal as educator is to create a great environment where every individual can grow and learn in the best capacity and interests. I believe that every person can bring something special and unique in this world. My responsibility is to help them develop their potential by believing that they are capable to achieve their goals and have a sense of pride.

Using various strategies, resources and interactive activities, using the LMS effectively for information, discussions, group activities, and assessments has defined my courses as effective and interactive. It also helps students grow as critical thinkers, problem solvers and creators by giving them the strength and the freedom to think differently and connect to the real-world.

My consistency in attending professional developments in both colleges that I am teaching, attending, and presenting on webinars and conferences at CUNY and broader at the National level have always enriched my knowledge and skills as a professional. I am a facilitator that enhances learning through inspiring using advanced strategies and methods based on curriculum, diversity of population that I teach multiple intelligence,
