I really like this picture and how the deep shadows add to the mood. I felt it was something new, something a little out of the box for my group and I. The contrast is what draws your eye to the picture. And when you look at it, a little mystery is also lingering there as well.
- Mostly the light, and where you place it. There are different types of angles in which you place the light that gives a certain type of effect on the subject. Also, if the lighting matches the mood thats an extra bonus.
- Broad light captures more surface area of a subject, while short light brings out certain features nice there is more of a shadow than there is light clouding the face.
- The function of main light is to cast shadows.
- The function of fill light is to brighten the shadows.
- The function of background light is to create separation between subject and background.
- I would like to go over more on how to properly use the reflective light and other specific lighting techniques that we didn’t go over in detail today.
It is great to experiment and see how the light can create a mood. I would always want the light to reveal at least one eye. Here the shadows really cover Shanelle’s face.
The light has to match the mood otherwise the photo will send a mixed message.
