LL4- Portrait Basics

The best photo that I chose is this image. This image gives a brief view from this person’s view through one taking the photo. The focus mostly matches on this photo as it gives a concentration to the lighting use in this photo. The photo faces on diffused light as there is no shadow to that focus and the view is focused to that individual to another person facing towards the camera.

1.When shooting a portrait one of the important factors is lighting, but also to make sure your subject is comfortable and relaxed.

2.With broad lighting the subjects face is toward the lighting hitting important features. Short lighting is when is the light casts a shadow on the subjects face because the light source is close to the subject. Both lighting is effective at 3/4 view.

3.The function of the main light is to cast a shadow.

4.The function of the fill light is to cast a bright shadow.

5.The background light simply lights up the background.

6. What I need to work on is focusing on the subject, which is the camera and experience different positions to portrait photography.

While the lighting here is lovely, is is not an example of diffused light. The main light and the background light are both well placed. there is not a lot of fill so the darker side of marcus’s face shows some strong contrast.
