Guidelines for Final Portfolio
Due Friday May 17 via Google Drive
NO LATE PORTFOLIOS ACCEPTED.
THIS IS A FIRM DEADLINE. I TOO HAVE A DEADLINE TO SUBMIT GRADES TO THE COLLEGE. IF YOU DO NOT TURN IN YOUR PORTFOLIO ON Friday May 17, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TURN IN A FINAL COURSE GRADE FOR YOU.
Your final portfolio includes your STRONGEST writing for the Spring 2024 semester.
PLEASE INCLUDE THIS STATEMENT AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR FINAL PORTFOLIO: "This portfolio contains my strongest writing of the Spring 2024 Semester."
Your final portfolio consists of FOUR written pieces: Unit 1 (revised) and Unit 2 (revised) and Unit 3 and Final Course Reflection Letter. You may NOT turn in the Education Narrative Unit 1 Essay or The RAB Unit 2 Document for the first time as part of your portfolio. Those deadlines have passed. — AND your genre project.
Checklist of What Should Be Included:
- Unit #1 Education Narrative (label it accordingly “FD2, Revised for Final Portfolio”)
- RAB Unit #2 Reflective Annotated Bibliography (here also,”FD2 Revised for Final Portfolio”)
- Unit # 3 Genre Assignment with Creator’s Statement (plus Outline)
- Your Genre Project: You will upload an mp3/mp4 or PDF graphic document in your Folder as a separate item.
- Final Course Reflection Written in the genre of a Letter (two pages, six paragraphs — See Assignment Final Course Reflection Letter) as a separate item in your Folder.
REMEMBER: revision includes re-thinking, re-writing, more research, proofreading, understanding your patterns of error and editing (working to correct errors and make changes at the sentence level). Note that while editing is part of revising, simply doing editing changes is NOT revising and is NOT what I am looking for! For the Education Narrative revision, include a PARAGRAPH at the beginning that explains the ways in which you revised your assignment and why. If you revised the RAB, likewise include a PARAGRAPH that explains the ways you revised. Address what you learned from the feedback you received, and the suggestions you chose to incorporate (or not). If you did not revise, just simply write that you did not revise.
Portfolio Format
In Google Drive: Go to the folder Final Portfolio. Create your own FOLDER within the Final Portfolio folder.
Title your FOLDER First Name Last Name Final Portfolio
Example: Jessica Castro Final Portfolio
In this FOLDER, you will upload THREE items.
- The first item in your Folder is a single MS Word file containing the THREE WRITTEN PIECES listed above: (1) revised Unit 1 Ed Narrative, (2) Unit 2 RAB, (3) any written parts of Unit 3 (Outline/or/Transcript and Creator’s Statement). This file should be a MSWord document (no PDF).
Title your file Final Portfolio.
Remember that presentation counts! Organize your MS Word document clearly and structured in the following way:
- Put a header at the beginning of the first page and at the beginning of each Assignment.
- Use a NEW page to start each assignment Units 1, 2, 3..
- size 12 font Times New Roman, Double-spaced and in MS Word — no PDFs.
- Put your Revision Statement at the top of your Final Portfolio.
2. The second item in your Folder is your genre uploaded as a video or an audio file (an mp3/mp4) or PDF ok if graphic.
Give the title of your genre project as the title of this file.
3. The third item in your folder is your Final Course Reflection written in the genre of a Letter.
Give the title of this file as Final Course Reflection.
Some shortcuts to help you assemble the portfolio:
- Ctrl+A highlights all the text in a document
- Ctrl+C copies the text in a document
- Ctrl+V pastes the text you copied into final portfolio
- Ctrl+Z undoes the last change you made to document.
REMEMBER: You must preserve the original final drafts of Units 1 and 2 in the Google Drive. I need to be able to view those original submissions in order to evaluate your revisions in the Final Writing Portfolio. If you disturb those original final drafts then I will not be able to give you credit for your revision work!
Grading for Final Portfolio
- Truly and thoughtfully revised the Unit 1 Education Narrative / and or / Unit 2 RAB Assignment
- (knowing the difference between revising and proofreading)
- Used teacher comments in revision
- Revision Paragraph at top of Ed Narrative or RAB
- Good clear presentation: organized and structured as instructed in the Assignment
- Carefully proofread with attention to grammar, sentence structure, punctuation.
- Submitted on time
- Worked with Writing Tutor
