In the Video, “Puerto Ricans Protest Privatization Of Public Beaches”, by NBC NEWS, Puerto Ricans are attempting to fight to keep public beaches from going private. Wealthy US citizens are coming into Puerto Rico to buy the land and make it their own as Puerto Ricans are losing public beaches. NBC NEWS highlights how someone name Isa Gutiérrez who works with them spoke with residents on behalf of them speaking out on their opinions. Many believe that it is unfair that wealthy people are taking their land and public areas. A lot of residents expressed how much they always go to the beach with their loved ones. Construction sites are destroying a lot of natural resources on the island which in this case should’ve been protected by law. NBC NBC NEWS addressed how someone is building property illegally on three different areas near one of these beaches. Puerto Ricans want changes and they’ve been wanting them for years.

The genre is journalism. The intended audience are Puerto Ricans with a secondary being the United States. NBC NEWS visited and spoke to residents of Puerto Rico on behalf of problems with wealthy people making public beaches private. NBC NEWS is credible because it is the news division of the National Broadcasting Company, part of NBCUniversal, and owned by Comcast Corporation. NBC NEWS accompanied Puerto Ricans where as they are going through a lot of transitions they are attempting to come to a stop. This video was published in 2022 which adds to the currency.
