Considering Genre

  • Freewrite about the genres you may choose from and how they each might/might not appeal to your audience:
    • script for a TED Talk
    • script for a radio or television interview
    • Twitter thread (at least 10 Tweets for the thread)
    • an interview
    • podcast script and (optional) recording of the podcast
    • an infographic or academic poster presentation
    • a play or film script
    • a listicle
    • a poem or song
    • a children’s book

Think of a specific audience to whom you would like to share your argument and research. Explain why. What do you think your audience knows and thinks about the subject? And what might their concerns or assumptions be about this particular topic? Choose 3-5 genres you think will appeal to your audience and help you share your research effectively.

Audience would probably be the people in the class. Because I think that’s the best option and good amount of audience. Every audience would probably have different opinions about the subjects because everyone thinks about it different ways and believes in different things. I think less than half of the audience would think my opinion is wrong. And they would be more concern about the subject and maybe even get interested to learn more about it . I think Podcast would be Good genre, maybe YouTube video or Last One children’s Book Like telling a story.

My target audience are teachers, educational leaders with higher ranking or seniority that actually care. I also want to reach the students so that way they feel heard and have reliable resources. I think many kids feel trapped in school but will not say anything because of fear of disappointment from loved ones or no one genuinely understands. This would do well with many students allowing them to bond with one another over certain circumstances. My genre has to be received in a way that they understand and do not find uninteresting such as a video or a brief speech/talk.

The audience who are suitable for mine genre are middle/high students and American history scholars.I would create an artwork for my genre that would help in clarifying the true events of the American Civil War. When presented to students in the form of an image or artwork, they typically learn it better. Rather than needing to read articles, they are more likely to comprehend and analyze. A movie or song would be another genre that my audience might enjoy. Making ensuring learners are engaged and not bored is important while working with them. They get excited and learn in a pleasant way when they watch a movie. This also goes alone with a song. It’s creative and makes them want more.

the genre I may use is a podcast. I think I might do a podcast with my friends and I because we talk about this topic a lot. I think I will be interesting an entertaining to my audience. also to see how our perspectives may change through out the recording. I think my audience may believe both that money does and doesn’t bring happiness, I want them to see both sides to get an understanding . I think a podcast, interview or a ted talk.

The people I want to reach is younger people because most of them have not intake any alcohol but might be want to because they see a lot of people drink around them. The first genre I would use is the interview. The reason is because getting an interview with a person that use to drink or still drinks gives me idea if my research was accurate. The second one is a podcast because it can reach the audience with your voice. Also because more people like to listen than read. A film might also help because a lot of people like films and a lot of people watches them.

I’m focusing on an audience that doesn’t know that much about the topic of Israel and Palestine. So a drawing would make sense because I feel like people are tired of hearing other people talk. So a drawing would be more engaging.

I might choose a podcast/video of some sort and it will appeal to my audience hence my overflowing amount of charisma and social skills present. I’m commonly known as quite a frequently talker during the class, so I’m confident my topic will do well. I would like to share my research and argument to the class so I can get my grade up and convince them of the falsified opinions that may just linger in their mind and break them free from their shackles. My concerns are that the audience won’t really understand my point, but that is a low priority. My audience may enjoy a song, play, or animation, but sadly I lack the skills and time for those genres so they’ll be getting a podcast instead, apologies in advance.

I think an interesting audience for my topic would be women in general. Id love to hear if they have the same thoughts as i do. the generes i mostly used were podcasts. podcasts gives people an opportunity to speak freely on topics without a proof reader. the next would be a newspaper article. i find these interesting as they often get to the point which the kind of reading i enjoy. The next would be magazines, similar to newspapers but with a bit more sass

The audience I would like to reach is my class, since we are presenting Unit 3 at the end of the semester. It is important to provide my classmates with information and share different perspectives on immigration as a problem and benefit; to do so, I might choose either a podcast or TED talk script or a poem. I find all three genres appropriate to communicate and present the sources included in my reflective annotated bibliography—my class might find the three of them interesting. However, of the three genres I liked, a poem would be more effective at conveying the feelings that my question brings about.

My target audience is active adults from 18-65 years old, residents of New York City. Ideally households or whoever sets the rules of the house. I think of my audience can be my neighbors, or neighbors neighbors, the people I see on the train and sidewalks, Trader Joe’s, and Aldi shoppers. This poem is for you and me. Did you see the poem posters on the Subway carts? Those poems about “dream and night something” I think my poem (or any poem on this matter) will go well there.  This is a perfect placement for a  poem like this, imagine you stuck in a tunnel, no phone reception and you forgot your book, you have read the Seamless delivery advertising a millions times already, and here your eyes land on the poem about recycling. Perfect! Passive perception, no pressure, just some rhyming words, no big deal. But when you at home in your quiet kitchen you may remember, something that you read on the poster. To sum up, my target audience is NYC subway riders.

My target audience is voters aged 18 to 30. This podcast is for them. I believe my audience is people like me and young voters. We are the next up and we have to understand the system today to try and change it. Being able to talk to these guys is a great way to help them understand how bad political corruption is in America. Being able to retain their attention and keep them engaged is done extremely well with a podcast and video.

The specific audience with whom I will share my argument and research is the parents of kids who are about to reach adolescence or in adolescence. Adolescence is the phase of life between childhood and adulthood. I chose the parents of adolescents to be my audience because adolescence is a vulnerable time in people’s lives. Parents need to know what dangers are on social media to protect their children from what’s to come. I believe that the audience does not know much about the subject because too many adolescents fall into the trap of having too much social media. This is the period in their lives where many of them choose the direction they are going to take in life. Most of the time parents don’t know what their children are seeing or going through on social media because adolescents are given more independence and can make choices on their own which could be detrimental for them. One concern parent might feel after checking on social media is their children’s mental and emotional health. Parents could see that their children suffer from depression, suicide, stress, anxiety, and other related topics which could make them raise concern for their children’s mental health. Three Genres I think that would appeal to my research are a listicle, an interview, and a podcast because they seem like the best way to get the point across and make it more interesting, and less time-consuming for the topic I choose.
