Declaration

The individuals who composed and signed The Declaration of Independence were willing to lose everything and be tried as traitors to their country. With the idea of fighting for your beliefs and values in mind, consider issues that affect you. What are some social justice issues (local or global) that you feel strongly about and might inspire you to act? Are there any incidents or chapters in US history that you think are not as visible as they should be, and that you think are important for people to learn about? Are there contemporary incidents that you think should be included in historical accounts of our era so people in the future can learn from them?

I believe it’s important to consider multiple perspectives and views when learning about history. Unfortunately, our education system often presents a one-sided or two-sided narrative, neglecting important voices and perspectives. I think that it should occur more in US History that we hear multiple perspectives and stories from more backgrounds.

The global issues that are not exactly directly affecting me but affecting other people are the injustices that others face in the courts of the different states. The reason why this topic has remained strongly with me is that even though it is not an everyday occurrence, many people face the injustices of someone lying on the court’s floor and the other person would receive jail time and basically lose their own life for no reason, whereas the person that lied would get to live freely without any consequences. I feel that even though it can be quite difficult for people to figure out if someone is lying, I feel that once they figure that out, they should receive a punishment of their own due to the fact that they basically ruined their life for no reason.

some events in US history that I think should be taught More is about Napoleon. I feel like he did a lot for a single man and not a lot of people really know about what he did. I kind of learned about it in high school but I definitely would’ve not minded to learn more about him. I get learning about George Washington because he freed America and we live in America but I feel like Napoleon made a bigger difference in the world.

Poverty is a very big global issue, especially in New York City, The government uses its money on other things here to bring in tourist and gentrifiers but don’t care about the native New Yorkers struggling to pay the increased rent and end up homeless. I’ve seen it first hand so this issue really bothers me. It’s also not talked about enough in the news and the media.

One complex social issue that is happening right now that I feel strongly about is the modern-day genocide going on in Palestine. Watching as an outsider I can’t even fathom what the country’s people are going through. Political disagreements are one thing but innocent children being killed and women being rapped and kidnapped is wrong. The news and media outlets are only showing us what they can due to censory but I know it’s worse. I feel like more countries should step up in the defense of what’s right. Another social issue I care about is immigration policies in the United States. I care about this because both my parents are immigrants; who migrated they came from their homeland. I know that lately there has been a fluke of immigration problems lately and I feel like this problem should be talked about more.

I’m going to be completely honest, there is not anything that I know of that I can say that I care about. I just don’t know about anything that’s going on in the world, and I’m more or less actively avoiding it as well. There are no issues that I know of that I can say that affects me negatively. Even if there is something, I probably wouldn’t even know about it. I know nothing about US history, so there’s nothing to answer there either.

social inequality, is one of the social issues that inspired me to act. Learning about social inequality should be one of the major things people should be educated on, in which not everyone in our society is given the same opportunities as others, society has created a way in which they separate people into certain groups based on their economic wealth.

A social justice issue that I feel very strongly about would be gun violence because many people that I know and love have at least lost someone to it. It is also an issue that I can relate to a lot because I myself have also lost someone to gun violence back in April of this year. I also don’t think that many people understand how dangerous it can be to own a firearm like that. However, I also understand that many people may use it for different reasons such as for protection purposes because in case if something happens they have a weapon to use to protect themselves and also the people that maybe or are around them in that moment. Although having a firearm can be useful in some ways, it can also have its safety hazards that can cause big issues that what it needs to be if used for the wrong reasons & with the wrong intentions.

Me personally, I feel like slavery and everything to do with it should be dived into more and taught more in classes. It was a really big thing that the US went through, big enough to be one of the causes for the Civil War. Another thing is what the US did to natives and how they treated them. I was taught that they were pushed off their land and into reservations or slaughtered, but there’s their whole culture and how we might have affected it.

Racism. There’s a lot of racism in the world right now. Against literally anyone. I feel like people writing about different viewpoints on it is important for the future. It’s important because it will show how things are, compared to when it is read to when it was written.

The issues that bother me the most according to my beliefs and values are people who are not honest with their actions and the insecurity that exists. My grandparents taught me to be as honest as possible with my actions and not to deceive myself. myself or others with what I do. This means, as I understand it, that you shouldn’t act differently depending on the person you’re with and that you don’t do things you don’t want to just because you want to appear good behavior (not if it’s insincere or you don’t want to). want to do it). As for the rest, I’m really bad at history so I don’t know the answer.

One incident in U.S. history I feel should be talked about more is the “Tulsa Race Massacre Of 1921.” In 1921, riots in Tulsa were started by white people who were angry that African Americans were gaining wealth after World War 1. I feel like this incident is significant because it is crucial for understanding the historical racial tensions.

There are several social justice issues that I feel strongly about and that inspire me to take action. One such issue is racial inequality and systemic racism. It is crucial to address the deep rooted disparities and discrimination that exist in our society, both locally and globally. This includes advocating for equal access to education, employment opportunities, and criminal justice reform. I believe that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their race or ethnicity.

Another social justice issue that I am passionate about is gender equality. Women and marginalized genders continue to face discrimination and unequal treatment in various aspects of life, including the workplace, education, and healthcare. It is important to challenge gender norms and work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone has equal opportunities and rights.
