Your Library Questions, Answered!
A lot of you have reached out with questions about returning and renewing library materials, overdue fines, ID activation, remote access, and more. We’ve created some FAQs in response to your questions. You can also reach out with circulation and library policy related questions to: NYCCTCirculation@citytech.cuny.edu
Textbook Alternatives for Spring 2020
The library has created a research guide to assist the City Tech community in finding electronic versions of course textbooks. The guide contains links to open textbooks, free textbooks from select publishers, and ebooks available for the spring term. The guide also has information on how to reach out to library subject specialists who can aid users in searching for ebooks in their discipline.
Ask a Librarian
Need help? Just Ask us!
We’ll miss you at the Ask a Librarian desk but the City Tech Library is here to help you with your research.
Connect with City Tech librarians online:
- Monday – Thursday: 9am – 10:30pm
- Friday: 9:00 am – 7pm
- Saturday: 9:00 – 5:00 pm
If you miss us during these hours, you can connect to other librarians 24/7. We can help your research strategy, finding sources for a project, and evaluating information, citations, and more! We can also refer you to other school resources such as IT support, OpenLab help, Blackboard resources, and remote tutoring.
See you in cyberspace!
Expanded Access to Electronic Resources
During this time, many publishers have offered expanded access to online resources in an effort to support the sudden move to online learning. While I am currently in the process of setting-up access to more free resources, there is a LibGuide with expanded access to eresources that have been set-up CUNY-wide and specifically for City Tech. If you have received any correspondence from publishers about complimentary access during the crisis, please forward to Prof. Kim Abrams.
Support for Faculty Scholarship
Do you need help with scholarly publishing? Our Scholarly Publishing Clinic is available for virtual consultations. Learn how to pick the best journal or publisher for your article or book, retain rights as an author, create a Google Scholar profile or search alert, use Academic Works and citation managers, and more.
Email Prof. Monica Berger to schedule your consultation and discuss your preferences for shared communication. Use this form to give us advance notice of your question. Don’t forget that you can also reach out to your subject liaison in the library.
