Last weekend, the borough of Brooklyn celebrated LGBTQ Pride. Here are a few local, queer-friendly resources to explore:
At CityTech, we’re only 20 minutes away from the Brooklyn Community Pride Center, located on Fulton Street in Bed-Stuy. They’ve been in their new location for just under a year, and the space is home to a wide variety of events, support groups, internships, and so much more.
If you’re seeking more information on the rich queer history of New York City, feel free to check out NYC LGBT Historic Sites. The ongoing project seeks to map locations of historical significance to the queer community, and even has suggestions for DIY walking tours.
And if you’d like to learn a bit more about queer life from an elder or community member, there’s the NYC Trans Oral History Project. In partnership with the New York Public Library, they’re working to facilitate intergenerational conversations among the LGBTQ community, as well as represent personal life stories.
