The library is located on the 4th and 5th floor of the library building. When first entering the library you will see public workstations in front of you the Ask a Librarian desk. The Internet Lab to the right and the Borrow and Return desk to the left.
The Borrow and Return Desk is where you would go to activate your CityTech ID. Onces your ID is activated you can use library services such as borrowing materials, login to a library computer, or access our electronic article databases off-campus. At this desk, you can check out material you can also request books on reserves reserve books, are textbooks for City Tech courses did you know you can also barrow calculator here too. Public work stations are available for student and guess use they provide internet as well as recourse to support you research needs.
Closer inside the library next to the staircase is the Ask a Librarian Desk. The librarians at this desk will answer your questions and help you with research, finding material, and much more. Behind the Ask a Librarian Desk is an IT support collage assistant who will help you with computer assistance. Do you need to get online using CityTech Wi-Fi or need help printing a document? Go to the IT support college assistant for help.
Behind the Ask a Librarian Desk is the reference collection. The reference collection houses encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks and other materials that are used to answer questions and facilitate further research. These material can only be used in the library and cannot be checked out.
Behind the reference collection is the periodicals desk. The periodicals desk is where the library stores magazines, journals and newspapers there is a college assistant to help you find materials. Scanners are also available around this desk, where you can scan just about anything. You can save these on a flash drive, Google Drive, or email the scans to yourself.
We don’t have photocopiers so the best place to make a copy is in this part of the library. You can scan a document, and log on to a computer. then print it out.
Another section of the 4th floor of the library is the Multimedia Resources Center or MRC. When entering the library, make a hard left, go up the stairs, and turn right. Now you are in the MRC. The MRC houses the library’s collection of technology, videos and audio recording. Students can barrow iPads, laptops, headphones, and you can use scanners. The collection consists of a variety of video cassettes, DVDs, and Blu-Rays. We also have vinyl recordings, audio CDs and CDROMS. We even have micro films. If you don’t have the equipment to play media materials, we also we also have all the players for these formats in the lab. We also have Apple Macintosh computers that you can use for research mead production and internet use.
So those are the main sections of the 4th floor of the library if you go up the stairs in the middle of the library, you will reach the 5th floor. This is where the stacks begin.
Stacks is the location where people can borrow books for three weeks at a time. All the book that range from the call numbers A through P can be found of this floor. Books between Q to Z can be found on the 4th floor.
The 5th floor is the quiet study floor. We also have study rooms on this floor where groups of 3 students or more can reserve a room. They have workstations and a lager screen television in each of these rooms to help you rehearse presentations or to do group work.
