After reading āUrban Walking Isnāt Just Good For The Soulā it brought me back to the days when I lived in Trinidad and Tobago.Ā In NYC most of my traveling is done by car or Uber but, back home, walking was the only way to get around. My route too and from school changed everyday based on which friends I was accompanied by. Some days I would take the valley river and relax with my friends who lived on the hills or the main road straight into the bus plaza. Over the year of walking multiple different paths just to get to the same destination I always felt safer walking up and through the hillside where as walking The main road felt unsafe and there was always a uncertainty in the air, if this venture was by yourself. In the article, itās expressed by the author that walking through cities are better than walking thru the country side. Unfortunately I disagree, only as beening someone who has walked both environments for years. I Understand the uncertainty and mentality that one goes through when walking in urban areas where as in the more rural areas thereās less to worry about and you can enjoy nature a lot more and be observant and let your thoughts and imagination free.Ā
