Low key vs. High key

Today we learned how characterize light. Also, on how the direction, intensity, and quality of light affect each photo. Additionally, we learned about high key and low key light. High key having little to no shadows and low key having more shadows within the photo.

Today i learned how to acknowledge the direction of light in a photo. Also, how to work with uncontrolled light. I noticed the source of the light can also affect the color of the image. For example, in the first photo the elevator light had a yellow tint. I attempted to correct it using Lightroom CC. Additionally, in the second picture i wanted to try a light that was colored, so i used the television screen as a source.

Although there were many photos by the photographer Joey Lawrence, i really enjoyed looking at this one.  It’s a very detailed and  composed shot. I appreciate the photographer choice to have a hard focus on the subject and a soft focus on the background. I also enjoy the use of color in the photo, it adds to the overall aesthetic of the portrait.
