Learning Log #6: Nicole Moya

Low Light

For the first picture it was using the black background and having the low light. Initially I was having trouble with my camera, but once I was able to find the problem I was able to shoot. The first couple of pictures I did not like how there was a line of flash going down through my label so what the professor recommended me to do is move one of the lights more to the side so the reflection would not be so harsh and right in front of the label.

White Light

This was the white background I actually wanted to use one of the color gels to switch it up a bit. I feel like it went more with the Pepsi theme. For this particular picture I just used one side with the color gel and the other light I actually turned it off because I was shooting with both lights on and the color barely showed.

Color Gels

This one I used both lights and covered both of them with color gels one with red and the other with blue. I found it pretty cool.

Learning Log #5: Lights

Orange Vibes

For this picture, my group and I didn’t use flash because we wanted to focus on the colors. The aperture used is 14 the largest. What I love about the picture is the background light and the color of her jacket match and just makes the picture work.

shadows

This picture we used the flash 3 times with each movement Vincent made which I found pretty cool because it created the shadow effect. The largest aperture was also used for this picture.

Baby Bump shadow

This picture what I love is the background lights, the effect it created and the silhouette. I tried to show my baby bump as much as I can but it didn’t really work out as how I would of liked but its not that bad.

I really enjoyed this in class photo session with the lights.

Lowkey Light #1  Highkey Light

Low-key Light VS. High-key Light

In today’s class we had the chance to play with the lights making a picture exposed to minimal light and focused on a certain spot in my opinion. While, the picture on the right is exposed to more light is not really focused on a certain spot.

Original Picture     Edited Picture

Today’s class was meant to explore and use the cameras; experiment with the lighting that was available in the school building. I liked this picture because although it’s not the perfect picture, but I like that it gave it an underground rural type of theme. Next to the original picture is the edit where I brighten the picture and sharpened it a little bit, I also played with the color to create a brighter looking picture. The way I meant to compose the picture was for Vincent to be the focus and tried to capture the picture from a low angle, so instead of head to toe its kind of the opposite.

Homework #1 Nicole Moya

Photograph By: Francesco Gola

The photographer I picked is Francesco Gola (http://www.francescogola.net/portfolio/italy/) because I fell in love with his landscape shots. The composition of his images are just amazing and the colors that are found in each photo just amazes me because views like that actually, exist. With each photo seen in his portfolio, you appreciate nature more, you are just like “Wow”. This particular photo captured my eye because first, I see the rule of thirds because although there’s a lot it seems balanced. You have the sunset, the water, and reflection of the sky against the water, you also have the mountains and the village. In fact, you could even see the rocks that are underwater.  So for this picture, I feel like the photographer really focused on the composition of his photo, and he used the rule of thirds. He didn’t just center the picture but, rather angle it to balance everything out. Made me feel like I was there, like just seeing the picture made me envision myself there and actually relaxed me a bit.
