Blog 2: The Interview

The project coordinator, David Kahn, emailed me for an interview. I went in for the interview and everything went smooth, but I did get stuck on a question. He asked me, “where do see myself in five year?” I did not know what to say. I thought to myself, “Jerome, where do you see yourself in five years? I saw myself working a six-figure job, married, no kids yet, traveling the world, and a five-room house. For some reason, I felt embarrassed so I could not say those things to him, so I said, “just working as a Graphic Designer. I don’t know, but I do like the branding aspect of design and spreading light on different issues in the world.” Another thing I learned on my interview was not to put things on your rĂ©sumĂ© you dislike doing. My only design-related job was when I interned at Manhattan neighbor network as a video editor. David was thinking of projects for me to do and he gave me a job doing video edits, but I did not like it because it takes a large amount of time. Time that I did not have. I wanted to say no to video editing, but I not know if I would get the internship if I did so. On the other hand, I did explain my main interest was graphic design. I could design things as posters and make graphics for social media.
