Blog 8: Williams Pipeline Protest

The Williams Pipeline was a proposal of a twenty-three fracked gas pipeline by Williams Transco, an energy company with a bad reputation. It would run from New Jersey to Far Rockaway.

This protest was the first protest I ever attended. Just like my Ecofest topic, my focus was on climate change. I had to record this protest and make a video from it. I had seen protests on media, and I have walked past a protest, but I have never seen anything like this. I arrived at City Hall and I saw so many people. I knew the pipeline was a serious issue, but I did not know so much people cared about this issue. People were chanting, playing music, and guest speakers were speaking from different organizations. Everyone came together to fight the Williams Pipeline. I felt amazed because I was a part of a protest that created a change.
