Discussion/Lecture

For a look at a different sort of virtual exhibit, let’s take a look at the Blue Exhibit which was held at the Nassau County Museum back in 2020 and focused exclusively on the Color Blue.

Blue is, in surveys, the most popular color. And, according to the Radio Lab broadcast on color, it was also not present in the Greek epics to describe the sea–instead, we had the wine-dark sea of the Iliad. That podcast explained it was a later entry to language than other colors.

But today, it is very popular and has many different shades and it is used to represent authority, security, and serenity. Tiffany had long use Tiffany Blue for its branding. The iPhone introduced a Pacific Blue:

Research on Color has shown that Blue has a calming effect on the Viewer so let’s get mellow and go together virtually to the Nassau County Museum of Art.

After we’ve visited Long Island, let’s head to  Fifth Avenue to the Cooper Hewitt:

Lab/Critique

• If we did not finish seeing all the visual quote projects, we will continue our critique of project today.
