My first step into the hospitality management field started in high school. I took a culinary class as kind of my major for high school since there were certain different field you could have studied in my high school. George Westinghouse high school had a culinary program a computer systems program and kind of an electrician program. I took the culinary classes and I had really fun cooking and learning so that’s what I decided for my career. after high school I decided to take a gap year until I started college to try and find a job, but it was very uneventful. i went to this program to get help on finding a job and making a resume and all the other necessary stuff you need but my first week there and they kicked me out because I was only 17 and they really couldn’t help me apparently. I came back a couple months after when I turned 18 and I went into a bunch of interviews but had no luck getting the second Phone call back to guarantee me the job so around April I started applying for city tech. in my first semester things were going pretty well until when I learned last December that I failed this class Hgmt 1101 before so now I’m taking it again I was really hoping to be cooking by now but I’m not very worried about it since I guess I’m getting a second chance at truly learning about the industry. In the end of my time at city tag I just hope I would have a good grasp on not just cooking but managing and the industry overall. I would also like to hopefully soon start working so I can get more firsthand experience that can help me with my future career.

I admire your determination and not giving up or quitting. Although I had no guidance in Highschool towards my future career, I relate in that I had a bit of realization while pursuing something else. Before majoring in Hospitality Management, I was undeclared health which I learned wasn’t for me. Besides, In my free time I would always be baking. Hopefully, we both can learn a thing or two that will guide us in our desired directions.

Hey, I like the way you expressed about your experience. It kind of match with my experience. When I was 16, I went to look for job at restaurant but I was not able to get. Anyway, I also love cooking and moving forward toward hospitality management. I wish you good luck for your rest of the semester.
