An Immigrant’s Silent Struggle

Good Morning 021 Students,

I hope the instructions have been clear so far. I am looking forward to working with you today. This is the first blog post for you for our new, online class.

Please respond to the following and then go to Google Hangout and wait for me to call you.

In paragraph 2 of An Immigrant’s Silent Struggle, Robert Kosi Tette implies that what he is wearing is very important to both him and the people who see him in Ghana. Why do you think that is?

Thank you all for your very thoughtful comments about the reading. You have each submitted interesting perspective about the importance of clothing to represent status.  Important elements of a blog response to consider are;

1) Try to make sure you use correct grammar.

2) Try to make sure that your format includes either part of the original question, or, if you are responding to one of your classmates’ blogs, you refer to the blog that your classmate has written.

3) You make sure that you express yourselves clearly so your classmates can understand your main points.

  3. I think the clothing is important for Robert and the people he know in Ghana because he is trying to seem like a wealthy man by wearing as an engineer. Also his relatives sacrificed a lot of money for his trip abroad , which now they expect him to make the same move in The United States.
