This OpenLab site is for both Section D054 (Mondays) and D045 (Tuesdays)

To-Do Before Class
- Bring your pencils, triangles and architectural scale + other supplies to class!
- You will need them for this and every class
- Bring your sketchbook with your freehand sketches from prior classes and the Field Trip
- Reading and Writing: NOTE – This has been changed to in-class work
- Read the article “To Sketch is to Think” by Chris Wilkinson (see Download below)
- Write a Reflection Essay – that responds to these questions:
- Why is sketching important to you?
- Why is sketching important to the writer, Chris Wilkinson, of the article?
- How does he use sketching in his architectural design work?
- Monday class: Submit your essay to Dropbox here
- Tuesday class: Submit your essay to Dropbox here

Project 1 – small building
See Download below for dimensions and photos
- Complete the 2 elevations started in class – Front and Side
- Scale for all drawings: 1/4″ = 1′-0″
- On the 2nd sheet – 11″x17″ – draw your Title block – like the first sheet
- Draw the Rear Elevation and other Side Elevation on 2nd sheet
- Use your sketch handout from class and notes we did together during class
- Bring all drawing supplies and Drawings to Class!!
