We have recently started reading the novel Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde, and the book is rather interesting. In the story,we have Dr. Jekyl, who lives a rather simple and normal life. He prefers not to be bothered, lives with the times and tends to keep to himself. He enjoys himself, but stays in seclusion from society. However, he develops what we call a multiple personality. When we look at Mr. Hyde, we see a more sinister person. We can think of Jekyl and Hyde as a sober and a drunk personas. Jekyl is the person that would wake up in the morning, wake up, have a typical breakfast, shower, etc. When it comes to Mr Hyde, he is that one person who tends to have a bit too much alcohol, gets riled up and out of control, and essentially becomes what a person would not enjoy seeing in him or herself. We can also see that Jekyl uses Hyde as an alternate escape path from reality. It is as though Dr Jekyl wants to keep his ordinary and rather boring life of not really connecting with other people, but he is able to release his dark side with his alternate person Mr Hyde. He becomes what he could never be with Jekyl. In fact, he becomes the exact opposite.

I like how you compare what would be each “persons” routine. In a way it gives them an identity and makes them appear more human, even though both Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde appear to be lacking what truly makes a person human. Even though Dr. Jekyll is the more “human” character he still lacks the empathy and morals of a regular person, which makes both characters even less human than how it would have been originally perceived.
