As discussed in class we touched on the novel Frankenstien by Mary Shelly, and my initial impressions of the novel are of one of intrest. My reasoning for this is because in the begining you get a breif overview of Victor the person telling the story. From his early childhood of moving all around, to his intrest of philosophy, to his mothers death, and him going off to college to the present.Victor as a person strikes me as one who wants someone to feel pity, or empathy is more like it as he decribes his sorrow as something that all should know about. Also he also is kind of spoiled, as he was the apple of his moms eye, but when she adopted a young girl named Elizabeth she became his moms focus, and he obiously was not to thrilled about that. It added insult to injury as when Elizabeth came down with scarlet fever.Victors mom cared for Elizabeth dispite the risks, contracted scarlet fever from Elizabeth, and subsecuently died. Victor was left with the impression that Elizabeth was the one who was responsible for their mothers death, thus leading him to be away from the family for exyended periods of time. Last point is Victor will not allow anyone to get close enough to call him a friend as he is not close with his ship mates dispite being with them for months at a time. Overall so far this story is pretty good, and getting better with more things to come.
