Me personally, I really enjoyed writing the letter for this assignment. I haven’t really written a lot of letters in my academic career. I feel like it’s easier to express my thoughts through a letter rather than a traditional academic essay because in the letter I was able to use my personal experiences and in a traditional essay you might have to write about a specific text or character in that text. In this letter I can use my own experience, in this case, being in my discourse community, and by using events that actually happened in my life I can express myself better than some events that I read from an article about that I was not a part of. Mary Wollstonecraft’s letter also helped me write my letter because she gave me an example of how to show that helping my discourse community can also be beneficial to my audience, as she did with the priest and women’s educational rights.
