The model that I’ll be writing my discourse community on is a letter. The reason why I chose to write it in a letter format is because I believe that I’ll be able to engage more readers though my strong persuasion and informative information. The issue that I’ll be writing about is substance abuse in competitive bodybuilding. I want to send a message to the people who currently compete and want to complete in professional bodybuilding in the future. I’ll first list my reasons on why not to use substances with scientific research and quotes of people who had used them in the past. I’ll also make a counterclaim and rebuttal to the issue to the people who might use substances despite the harms and risks. I believe that this will be a great way to reach out to my audience and state my claim.
