Due: 12/18
Reflection
(approximately 600 words)
We have arrived at the end of the semester! Now it is time for you to reflect on what you have done over the course of the last few months. You will write a final reflection (approximately 600 words) that takes into consideration the three questions below. Additionally, if any of your units have been revised, include a paragraph in the final reflection explaining the changes you’ve made and why. This is a graded assignment.
Questions your reflection should address:
- What have you learned about yourself as a reader and writer this semester?
- How have you changed or developed as a reader and writer this semester?
- Discuss what you learned in this class and how you might transfer this knowledge to other writing tasks, assignments, or situations either in college or in your community.
- In the course of your reflection, quote your own writing from each of the three major assignments. Choose quotes that illustrate something about your writing, the assignment, or the genre, and explain why you have included these particular examples of your writing.
Here are the grading criteria for this project:
Your reflection…
- is thoughtfully written and has a point– it’s not simply a list answering the questions above.
- uses language, grammar, and sentence structure that makes your meaning clear.
- includes details and examples from your own writing that illustrate your experiences in the course.
- has been proofread.
- is approximately 600 words
- is submitted on time.
Portfolio
Using a google document, put together a portfolio that includes your Final Reflection and final versions of major assignments (Units 1, 2, 3).
Note: You may choose to revise one of your major assignments. If you do revise, please tell me clearly in your reflection which assignment you have revised. If you choose to revise a piece, include a short paragraph in the final reflection explaining the changes you’ve made and why.
Putting the portfolio together: your portfolio must include the following in the order listed below*:
- Cover page (include a graphic if you wish!)
- Table of Contents
- Reflection on your growth as a writer, reader, and researcher – approx. 600-650 words
- Unit 1
- Unit 2
- Unit 3
- Optional Revision
*If you wish to submit your portfolio in some other way, talk to me first. (Note: the same items listed above must be included, and your folders must be easily accessible and organized.)
Portfolio grading:
The grade for the portfolio takes into account both the content and whether or not you’ve submitted an organized and complete portfolio on time.
