My Research Question is “Why is the price of Used Cars so High in Today’s Market?” The reason as to why I am interested in this topic is that recently I have gotten the opportunity to save up after getting my license in anticipation of buying my first car. I did a lot of research in trying to find a car that is not new but is reliable, and I could learn how to work on cars at the same time. I wanted a vehicle that was efficient and would not cost me too much, but is still japanese. However, the price of the car I wanted a year ago was about 3k since it is from 1993, but today the price is about 6k. By doing research I would like to know if it is a trend in just Lexus car brands, or if it is the marketplace itself, and what has set off these price changes. I would really like to know what has actually caused this trend, and if it was the pandemic that has done this, or something else that has triggered the marketplace. Are individuals who are selling doing this on purpose to make a profit, or is it something causing them to sell at this price? Not much is said about this topic and I do find it intriguing for youths like myself who also are interested in buying a first car. I want to know if there are people like myself who are struggling also, or are in awe of the change of price within a year on the marketplace for a car whose price went up a few thousands. I hope to know by the end of this research what it is that triggered this trend in the marketplace, and if this is just a trend set by sellers to force buyers to purchase at this set price for their profit.

I think this is a great question. I suspect that there are various factors causing the rise in cost of used cars. And I think that finding the answer will make for a great unit 3 where you can find a way to share what you learned with an audience that wants to know that answer. I imagine many people want to know the answer.
