The experience of how I went to elementary school, middle school, and high school made me learn how to be a strong person and not let other students put me down even though I am a person who was born with a disability.
When I was younger, I went to elementary school PS 316 which was in Brooklyn New York. The way I always got to school was by the school bus. I was in third grade at the time when I started going to that school. I loved that school because the teachers made me feel comfortable and welcome. I wanted to make friends, but no one would be my friend because of the way my eyes look. I used to cry a lot because they would always bully me about my eyes. I always used to tell my parents what happened in school, and they would always make me feel better by telling me how beautiful I was and how I was a child of God and how God loved me. I felt like I was never going to make friends because nobody wanted to know who I was. I always was happy to go to school though because I wanted to learn new things every day. In that school I met Ms. Rose who was the first vision teacher I had when I was in third grade. Ms. Rose taught me things like how to tell time and how to practice typing. I always used to get a little frustrated because I always used to mess up on whatever I was typing. I used to practice typing on different typing websites like Talking Typer. Typing was hard because I could not see the letters very well. I kept practicing but sometimes I just wanted to give up. After finishing PS 316, the next school I went to was PS 369 which was in Brooklyn also. I really liked the school even though the school was small and there were three classes. I was in six grade at the time, and when I met my friend Astrid. Astrid and I had a lot of things in common. I always helped Astrid most of the time. I helped my friend Astrid by calming her down when she was upset, and I also helped her with her schoolwork and homework. A few days later when I was still in six grade I made another friend, his name is Dante. Dante and I became fast friends, we always used to act silly and play games together. One of our favorite games to play together was UNO. We might always be friends but when we used to play UNO, we always had a competition and acted like we were not friends but even though one of us lost in the game we still had lots of fun playing together. After I finished this school, I was happy because I made it through, and I made some friends. The last school I went to was PS369@AIL. AIL is in Brooklyn. I had lots of fun because my friend Dante and I were still going to the same school. Freshman year we were in the same class, and we did lots of fun things like playing online games on ROBLOX. I also had fun singing a lot of Nigerian Gospel songs for not only my friends but for the teachers that work at AIL. My favorite thing to do in the school was summer Uth. I was happy because I knew I could make money and learn how to save my own money and use it wisely. There were so many wonderful memories I had when I was in high school, and I always learned a lot of things. From elementary to high school there were lots of things that were challenging but I still made it through the day and the school year by being strong, thinking positively, and always being patient.
What I learned from this experience in elementary, middle, and high school is how to be patient, strong, and not let other people put me down even though I am born with a disability.
