I never really thought about it until now! I would say my approach to drafting is just writing everything that comes to mind down on paper and then refining it as I go while proofreading everything I’ve written. When I start writing my hands and mind both go off writing everything that comes to mind, I think that’s a good way to writing. Looking at it from afar also helps me with the writing process, taking a moment to step back and analyze how you want your story to flow, the tone you want to set for your piece and making sure the audience understands how you want to come off.

When it comes to the learning process I’ve learned to keep an open mind. It helps when you have a goal in mind for yourself, school and learning doesn’t seem to be a core rather than a tool necessary for your goal. I feel that education is necessary depending on what career path you choose for yourself.

I’ve decided to go for radiology and medical imaging, I’ve always had an interest in the medical field so I knew I’d choose a career along this path. It wasn’t until I became a dental assistant I wanted to further pursue my career but not in dental but in radiology. I take X-rays as an assistant but I want to do more and expand that to the whole body.

A moment where I woke up and realized that you can help people all you want but you can’t change them. I tried my hardest to help one of my closest friend in high school to help her graduate with the rest of us but she just wouldn’t change. She needed to pass her regents and I put her in tutoring, encouraged her even if it came off blunt because I wanted to see her succeed but in the end it all came down to her and how’d she use the tools I’d given her. Unfortunately she didn’t graduate but I knew I did the best I could in helping her.

When it came to the Douglas article I didn’t get much from it. I personally took more from the Malcom X article even though his article was much more wordy and lengthy. However there was a quote in the Malcolm X article that stood out to me and I interpreted into my own sense; it goes “I suppose it was inevitable that as my word-base broadened, I could for the first time pick up a book and read and now begin to understand what the book was saying”. As your world opens up it shows you a whole new side you didn’t know was there… or maybe it was always there you just didn’t know how to access it until you open yourself up to it.

Desiree, did you have a hard time with the google doc?

As for what you have here, I’m wondering if you had a specific incident with a patient and what you accomplished with x-raying that lead you to want be an x-ray tech. If not, I’m not sure what else here could become a narrative, but you can come speak with me and we can brainstorm together.
