Day 3

What did you learn today?

Today I learned about the print production process. I also I learned how to send files down to the reproduction center. It’s important to make sure that all of the information about the specific job is listed to ensure that the project is printed properly. Lastly, I learned more about our training team and I learned more about their work ethic/mentality.

What challenges did you face today and how do you plan or hope to overcome them?

The only challenge I had faced today was being organized with the group project. We were so excited about the project that we went straight into it. But I’m certain we will be able to cover everything we need in the project. This group has a really good work ethic so this problem will resolve itself.

In what way were you able to help each other?

We were able to help each other out by giving good criticism and feedback to each other’s creative projects. We were also able to help each other during our group project. We were able to exchange ideas and this will be very important for our group project since this is an app. Multiple opinions/ideas will be good especially for something that wants to get a large audience.

Day 3

What did you learn today?

I learned today about how to print with guidelines and how does booklet printing work. Especially how does printer spreads and reader spreads work. It was really help how we went to reproduction center where things get printed.

What challenge you faced today and how do you plan to overcome them?

I want to improve on thinking more creatively but my creativity is a slow process so it takes time to create a design. I really need to dig in deep in order for me to have better ideas because other it is going to be generic.

In what way you were able to help each other?

It really helped to break the ice when we had group discussion on the project app we will create. It was nice to know everyone finally and had a healthy disscussion which help in group discussion.

Day 2

  1. What did you learn today?
I learned about previous interns’ projects and their presentations, project cycle, contracts, project critique, and the process of meeting with clients. It was really insightful to learn about how the process of dealing with perspective clients works.
  2. What challenges did you face? How do you plan to overcome them?
A challenge I faced today was figuring out what direction I wanted to go with my creative project. The objective allowed us to create whatever we wanted to, which also means its possible to easily get lost. I plan on overcoming them by doing more research and not allowing myself to get overwhelmed with the infinite amount of directions you can take when your project has no restraints.
  3. In what way were you able to help each other?
We were able to help each other by critiquing each other’s projects and giving feedback that would help us improve on our work and come up with even better solutions.

Day 2

What did you learn today?

Today we learned the process of working with a client in an efficient and productive manner.  You want to be professional and very clear when working with a client in order to do great work in a timely manner. Specifically I learned how important it is to be clear on a specific date, and the amount and type of deliverables.  Clarifying these specifics with a client only make it easier to be organized when working on a project.

What challenges did you face?

Today we also started our own creative project that solely surrounds around our own creative ideas and experiences.  My main challenge today was coming up with a good concept that I am eager to work on.

How did I overcome this challenge?

By brainstorming and using some of my own experiences as well as humor I was able to come up with a concept for our “This is my Stop” project.  Luckily I take the subway enough and have plenty of experiences and complaints to add character to my own project in a way that entertains myself and makes me eager to keep working on it.

In what way were you able to help each other?

By looking over each others work we can get an idea of everyone else’s ideas which often helps you or a team member spark their own new ideas.  It is certainly nice to be surrounded by other individuals who share an eagerness in designing and have very different ways about tackling a project.

Day 2

What did you learn today?

I learned today about client relationship and how you are supposed have meeting with them regarding the projects I will be working. What kind of question should asked and most important when is the deadline for the project and how yo send them  emails.

What challenge you faced today and how do you plan to overcome them?

I want to improve on researching more about the projects and going deep into it. I am working on my on zine project and I am keeping very simple and creative at the same time. I did a lot research on the neighborhood and finalized one idea because before I had too many ideas.

In what way you were able to help each other?

How helped my with my City Tech Writer poster and she suggested that I should work on my text. I happen to work on the text and it was so much better that first one.

Day 2

What did you learn today?

Today I learned about email etiquette and how to meet with the client. I learned about the importance of keeping a deadline and schedule for the client. Being able to keep track of when certain parts of a project is due is essential to the projects execution. Lastly, I learned about how Faculty Commons works with clients. Since every job has a different way of dealing with such matters I think it was really important to learn about how they write their contracts and set up meetings. Even though it is a very specific way of working I think that this would be able to function regardless of where you work.

What challenges did you face today and how do you plan or hope to overcome them?

One of the challenges I faced was quickly executing my ideas. I think that with the help of this internship I will be able to execute executions as fast as I think of ideas. Essentially I just need to work faster while maintaining the high standards of a project.

In what way were you able to help each other?

We were able to help each other by asking questions about each others work and being able to share our work. This helped when we needed something answered and it helped give a fresh perspective on our work. Critiques were helpful when we were able to receive feedback on what the critique was. And since there was more people it allowed more people to have an opinion.

Day 1

  1. What did you learn today?
Today, I learned proper file naming and organization, and the process of developing a potential projects for a client, and hearing more of Faculty Commons and it’s design team.
  2. What challenges did you face? How do you plan to overcome them?
A challenge I faced today was dealing with the short amount of time I had to get projects done. I plan on overcoming this challenge by figuring out and prioritizing the objectives required.
  3. In what way were you able to help each other?
We were able to help each other by learning what our strengths were, and figuring out what would work with out skills best in terms of working on future projects.

Day 1

What did you learn today?

Today we got our first taste of what it is like to work on a design and team and with some minor time constraints.  We tested our abilities to read copy and check for spelling mistakes and general use of hierarchy.  It was great to get a feel for the environment we will be working in and get a general understanding of the work we will be doing as a part of Faculty Commons.

What challenges did you face?

Not too many challenges just yet but we definitely tested our creative skills right off bat.  Right away we were coming up with our own concepts and executions for certain projects that are consistent parts of the work at FC.  It was good pressure as well as fun to be able to put our own creative endeavors and ideas towards ways in which we visually communicate at City Tech.

How did you plan to overcome them?

By not getting to stressed and taking time researching and even googling I often find new ideas.  Even going for a walk can help me jog my creative juices and become inspired on how to tackle a certain project.

What way were you able to help each other?

We are a creative team. And for that matter we are all assets to each other.  We can each bounce ideas of each other as well as make comments/critiques on each others work in order to make much better stuff.  Were all here to positively enforce each other and make better and better work.

Day 1

What did you learn today? I’ve learn to open my mind to potential concepts and ideas to further enhance my design.

What challenges did you face?( how did you plan to overcome said challenge?) I I found that in order to create great designs ,I’ve had to sketch out the base design so i could filtered out workable concepts. Unfortunately this results in my time being shorten significantly, I strove to overcome this challenge by ensuring that the main details are mostly on the page to reduce the back-and -forth.

In what way were you able to help each each? Seeing how focused and cheerful the trainees were, had inspired me to work with passion. It helped me to remember why I love design and allowed me to continue to work with minimal pressure.

Day 1

What did you learn today?

I learned how to better use your design process in work place and professionally. I had to do a lot of research before hitting the computer and know a lot more about faculty commons. Know more about how previous project have been done.

What challenge you faced today and how do you plan to overcome them?

I want to improve on my design skills and doing more research on the projects. I want to create concept which works with the idea. Coming up with clear ideas and execute them on the page.

In what way you were able to help each other?

We didn’t talk much but we had discussion on how we didn’t know a lot about faculty commons design process so it was hard to come up with ideas.
