Justin Worland stated that âThe number of jobs in the U.S. solar industry grew by 25% last year as the energy sector continued its march away from fossil fuels to renewable energy, according to a new reportâ in an article called âThe solar Power Industry keeps Adding Jobsâ. Now that there are more job available in the solar industry, there will be high rapid change in technological advances that will have the energy source. Where the market industry is boosting there will now be 260,000 people now working in the solar industry. Solar energy is to be considered the most cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source available.

Matthew Hutson in his article âOur Bots, Ourselvesâ gives us five scenarios that will most likely happen with artificial intelligence like Appleâs virtual Assistant Siri and Alexa (Amazon Echo.) The 1st scenario is having a voice in your head, meaning that you might get a virtual helper on a date coaching you or reminding you to take your medication. The 2nd scenario will be talking to products and ask questions like (âHello, box of cereal. Am I allergic to you.?â) The 3rd scenario might be a musical assistant, David Cope from UC University, Santa Cruz, created a program which he chats and shares musical ideas. The 4th scenario is that personal assistant might be able to analyze a personâs voice and user history for a better understanding of feelings and how to act to it. The 5th is rely too much on virtual assistants and the risk of being hacked.

Joe Shepter profiled a medium sized digital agency called Hello Monday. He notes about how different they are as a company, both professionally, and personally. A lot of this company is founded on the quirkiness of the companyâs founders and each of their employees. From having âoffice momsâ that act as office managers who also cook lunch, to wearing bear hats when video conferencing with National Geographic, Shepter notes how odd they are. Hello Monday thrives on being different, with financials not being a huge focus for them. Shepter even states, âFinancial success is not the companyâs top priorityâ (Shepter, 2017, p. 60). A lot of their work is based on being different, which separates them from their competition. Winning well over one hundred awards in less than fifteen years, Hello Monday not only embraces being different, they thrive in it.

Kevin Drum in his article âHereâs How to Save Obamacareâ discusses how Republicans can repeal Obamacare and what Democrats have as leverage in order to save it. If Republicans want they can try to repeal Obamacare, but will have to provide an alternative option. House Speaker Paul Ryanâs set of proposals also relies on private insurers and mandates coverage for preexisting-conditions, but provides smaller federal subsidies.Because the Obamacare preexisting-conditions clause doesnât effect the federal budgeting the Republicans canât simply repeal it, and if preexisting-conditions stay and all other budget related provisions will be repealed, Republicans simply will create a chaos in the healthcare system, which will jeopardize the political survival of the Republican party. âRepublicans need Democratic votes to repeal the provision and pass a workable law, which means that if Democrats hold out they can certainly get a far better deal than Ryanâs planâ (Drum, 2017, p.21).

In his article âCan labor fight back?â Justin Miller explores the options organized labor will have at its disposal to fight off an onslaught of anti-labor and pro-business laws the Trump administration is planning to install in the foreseeable future. Miller concludes that âThis, of course, is not the first time that organized labor has faced an existential crisis – in fact, most of the movementâs history is characterized by existential crisesâ (Miller, 2017, p. 76). The article focuses heavily on the dismantling of unions, in particular in the public sector, and how the Republican strategy will be to defund liberal cities to increase the pressure on unions. Despite the difficult task at hand, Miller remains optimistic that organized labor does have a chance to fight back, as highlighted in the case of the teachers union in Chicago which successfully fought against the Mayorâs plans to privatize the cityâs school system.

The first one was developed in 1990s to solve problems that the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) ,which intent to replace the dated analog VGA connection, had in this time. In 2002 the HDMI 1.0 specification tried to solve some problems with the connection of the HDMI with the HDTV to maintain compatibility with the DVI connector to respect the High-Bandwidth Digital content protection (HDCP), and the digital rights imposed by Hollywood Studios . âvideos was always focus for the HDMI initial effortsâ(14). In 2005 the HDMI was upgraded to 1.2 adding support for one-bit delta signal audio (DSD), the expanding sampling frequency, and the expansion of multi-channel. In 2013 there was another update to HDMI 2.0, which was able to support 32 audio channel, 4K- resolution video at 50/6 frames per second. this one was compatible with the last version. The way the system of Checks and Balances was originally envisioned by the Framers of the Constitution from time to time gets revisited, and with the current POTUS, that time has come again. According to the article âPresidential Authority: Washington v Trumpâ (2017, p. 21), âThis is how the boundaries of presidential authority are gradually discovered.â Trump signed an executive order banning travel from seven Muslim-majority countries. On judicial review, a federal district court temporarily stopped the executive order. Claiming issues of national security, on appeal, Trumpâs lawyer argued that this issue is not for the courts to decide. Nonetheless, the three-panel judge found no merit in such argument to the extent to ban entire countries, especially when the possible targeting of Muslims violate the First Amendment rule against against religious establishment, and it harms American legal residentâs interest when their family are banned from visiting them.

I believe that strategy of the article entitled âAnswers From a Train Operatorâ was to present answers to questions people would want to ask a Train Operator in a format of question first, followed by the answers to those questions. The person responding to these questions is named Dennis H. Boyd. He drives the Lexington Avenue line number 4 train. I found it interesting that Train Operator Dennis H. Boyd mentions that he would have to stop the train earlier in the rain or snow because of friction between the metal tracks and metal wheels of the train. Train operators are exposed to various health problems which include flu viruses, the common cold and noise. Train operators are also exposed to the threat of being spit upon. A safety feature which prevents last-minute bordering according to Dennis âIf the doors arenât locked, the train canât moveâ. (D. H. Boyd, 2010)

The article,âThe Little Boat That Couldâ by Damon McMillan discussed the challenges of creating a stable autonomous boat. A autonomous boat is one that can be controlled without a person handling it. This boat named âSeaChargerâ is powered by solar energy. McMillan created an autonomous boat with the goal of making the boat travel around the world like from California to Hawaii. One of the issues were making sure the motor lasts long enough to get the boat from California to Hawaii. Another issue was the survival of the solar panels placed on the boat. This is where the solar energy from the satellites make contact with. McMillan saidâ the greatest surprise of the entire project has been the intense interest and unfailing support from hundreds of people over the world.â(McMillan, 2017, p. 17). Despite McMillanâs struggles with the autonomous boat, he overcame it with support from others.

As Reported by McMillan in, âThis Autonomous Boat Went from California to Hawaii and Beyondâ McMillan attempted to conduct an experiment to see if a solar powered autonomous toy sized boat could sail 2,471 miles. This idea of McMillan turned into a 30 month long project and after the successful trip from California to Hawaii McMillan attempted to cross the Pacific towards New Zealand. McMillan reported âthey are made only from laminated layers of plastic, without the typical aluminum and glass components found in other panels. If placed on a house, these thin, semi-flexible panels might not withstand tree branches falling on them, but there are no trees on the ocean.â (McMillan. D, 2017). With such a weak material McMillan thought what other problems could arise. Things such as what if the current would turn over the boat or if hordes of clouds would stop the boats charge cycle.

In âMichigan City Settles Lawsuit, Giving Group the Right to Build a Mosque,â Daniel Victor reports on the circumstances surrounding a lawsuit brought by the American Islamic Community Center against Sterling Heights, Michigan for the cityâs refusal to build a mosque due to religious discrimination. The city settled the lawsuit on Tuesday, allowing the mosque to be built. The lawsuit was filed in December after an application for building plans entered in August 2015 was continually rejected. The rejection was due to concerns about the height of the building, parking, and noise. However, residents of Sterling Heights had expressed strong opposition against the mosque; motivated not by zoning concerns, but rather anti-Muslim sentiments. Barbara L. McQuade, a U.S. attorney, stated that the lawsuit involved the city placing a âsubstantial burden on the communityâs ability to exercise its religion by denying approval to build a mosqueâ (Victor, 2017, p. A19).

According to Copeland & Haeff âThe traveling-wave tube was a key component in early telecommunications, radar, and television-broadcast systemsâ (Copeland & Haeff, 2015, p. 38).
The discovery of the traveling-wave tube represented a major change in how we communicate. It worked with high frequency radio signals and was developed by, the engineer, Andre âAndyâ Haeff, at the Kellogg Radiation Laboratory around 1933. The primitive corkscrew contraption later morphed into a technology known as a helix traveling-wave tube.A helix was used to slow a high frequency wave to the same speed as an electron beam. The prolific Haeffâs work was further developed and new patents rights were sought by other researchers in New Jersey and England. This device was not really associated with Haeff as others, including an Austrian architect, Rudolf Kompfner, received more recognition for its further development. RCA used the technology in its movies.

Andre Smalling is giving some brief details about a high-speed wireless communication standard called Long-Term Evolution (LTE) in his article titled, âLTE Fundamentals.â He describes that the main architecture of LTE consists of E-UTRAN Node Bs, mobility management entities (MME), and serving gateways (S-GW). Node Bs provides connection between mobile phones, and are connected with MME and S-GW.
LTE architecture is evolved from 3GPP with addition of Gateway which helps in reduction of delays between inter-node. LTE is also using Orthogonal Frequency Division multiplexing (OFDM) which transmit data in multi career and helps in resolving signals fading, and according to Smalling, âLTE uses OFDM for the downlink – that is, from the base station to the handset to transmit data over many narrow-band carriers of 180 KHZ each instead of spreading one signal over the complete career bandwidthâ (Smalling, 2017, p. 22). LTE uses single-carrier frequency division multiplexing in the uplink.

The author goes into detail about the Solar facility being build in Buffalo worth $750 million capable of producing 10,000 solar panels a day. SolarCity is already the top solar panels installer in the Us..However, they are trying to produce cheap solar panels, easy to install, and has a high efficiency. Despite the fact their manufacturing will be low-cost, the efficiency at producing solar energy to electrical energy could be at stake. According to Martin, â Efficiency matters because the panels themselves represent only 15 to 20 percent of the cost of full installation.â (Martin, 2016, p. 32). Even if they are able to produce cheap solar panels. If the efficiency isn’t good enough their business will not go far since, solar technology is advancing and there are solar panels being tested in labs that their efficiency goes up to 40%.

This article gives an in-depth look into the beginnings and the evolution of the Innocence Project, whose work over the years has resulted in the release of those wrongly convicted in prison. The article highlighted the vulnerabilities in the justice system that necessitated the need for the creation of such a program and the invaluable use of a new scientific method at the time known as DNA testing. The use of DNA testing proved to be an invaluable tool in the field of forensic science which opened up the reexamination of evidence that had been used in previous cases. According to Scheck, one of the main founders of the project, âthe test were able to to give people a brand new look at old evidenceâ (Dwyer, 2017, p.6).
