Read the following quote by Dr. Pamela Brown, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Learning is a source of hope for a better future. It requires hard work and sacrifice which can be even more difficult in challenging times. Your time in college is also your opportunity to connect with others, lift your spirit, enrich your life, and develop the skills and knowledge to make a difference in your community.

Read and comment on another student’s post. These are your classmates, encourage them to work towards their goals.
A good habit that I will create in myself is to put all my time in order so that I have time to study, do homework, work and rest, which is also very important, as well as how to try to create a good and orderly work area so that I can do things. tasks and everything easier
By finding a good place to study and spacing my studying and taking breaks
Taking breaks is so important. We all need to recharge our brains.
I will create positive academic habits for myself by organizing my time of each day. I will make time to get homework done before the due dates or start it so that way i wont stress myself out and can fully understand assignments that i need to complete. I want to be able to keep my school my main priority but still have time for my social life and my job. I want to make my life easier so that way I won’t procrastinate and stress myself out.
Thats so smart. Taking it day by day and breaking the day into parts. One of the best ways to go.
I will create a positive academic habits for myself by studying for my classes and tests
I agree with you because studying will make it easier to understand your classes so you can get a better understanding because sometimes certain subject will be more difficult to understand so studying your notes from class will help a lot and will help you get better grades.
I will create a positive academic habits for myself by studying for my classes and tests
Studying is definitely one way of finding success in your classes
A positive academic habit I will create for myself is having a to-do list for school so I keep track of my assignments. Being organized is always my top priority, it helps keep my mind at ease. This is something I will keep doing for school to stay on-top of my school work.
To do list are very rewarding. It starts off as overwhelming but as you check off each task it’s a dopamine release
A life experience that prepared me for college i would say my work environment. High school didn’t really prepare me because it was cut short by covid but also majority of classes in high school weren’t as focused as now. Work environment though taught me discipline especially with timing keeping and organization of both paperwork and people.
That’s unfortunate that COVID-19 limited your chances to experience high school in the way that you wanted. Hopefully college allows you to experience education better since we are transitioning back into in-person
Many life experiences have prepared me for college. I feel as if my grandpa getting sick, the loss of many family members and friends, me battling my own anxiety and depression and taking care of my sisters are all life experiences that have prepared me for college. All these experiences have made me stronger and wiser when it comes to facing adversity and they have allowed me to see the world outside the bubble I was living in and see people for their true colors. These experiences turned a immature child into a smart young man who knows how to not only help himself and others but also ask for help as he now knows he can’t put the world in his shoulders alone and expect to stand tall without some help. Learning it’s ok to not be ok and ask for help and even learning that your best interest isn’t always everyone else’s are all things these life experiences have allowed me to prepare for college. This way I know how to ask for help, I know to remain motivated, I will
know who and who not to trust, and I know how to act responsible, respectful and professional without losing who I am at heart
I’m sorry that you have faced all those experiences. It can be very difficult to overcome them with all the accompanying emotions. But I’m really happy to read everything, you are writing. To read that these experiences have shaped you into a man is amazing. This is a good mentality to have for college and pretty much life overall. I noticed you give yourself a lot of room for forgiveness and it allows for growth.
I figure to create a positive academic habit for myself would be creating a routine and coming up with potential solutions ahead of time to certain problem I may have. Know what bad tendencies I got and good tendencies, then work from there.
I think that is so smart. To create potential solutions. In the process, you’ll unconsciously prevent yourself from encountering certain problems
I will create a positive academic habits by creating a study groups with friends and classmates. I will also try to take organized with my notes and scheduling a study time.
Study groups are so beneficial. Each one of you can contribute together and create a bank of knowledge.
I will set up a routine to help me do things on time and make a plan for myself so i can hand things in on time as well as email my professors for help when i need it
Routines are so important. Get into a healthy routine with new habits that enable you to grow. Yup stay in contact with your professor especially in times of needs.
One way I will create positive habits for myself is by keeping schedules with a planner on spreadsheet for all assignments I need to complete and anything else I need to get done. This will help me stay organized and prepared
A planner is very useful to have. It will prevent you from forgetting important things and you’ll be able to manage your time.
I will create positive academic habits for myself by keeping everything organized as well as finding a way to fix my schedule enough for me to have time to complete everything that is needed of me in a timely manor.
Organization is a very important skill to have.
When I have been faced with a difficult situation, I used different strategies such as talking to an adult or someone who has more knowledge than I do. I would ask questions and see what helped other people. Another strategy is to asses the situation and come up with potential solutions to my problem and see which one will help me in a better way.
I think that’s a wise strategy of reaching out for help to those who have more experience.
In order to create positive academic habits I try and plan out my days and separate my social life and college. Also organizing my classes after getting my syllabus from all my classes. Preparing a time schedule for me. Make space for studying, having a social life, college, and hopefully a job or a hobby. And as long as I try not to procrastinate I know I won’t get overwhelmed.
I agree, by creating a spreadsheet of your assessments as well as any graded projects and organizing them by dates helps keeping yourself more onto of upcoming assignments and lets your get a head start.
I actually have a friend who uses a spreadsheet to stay on track of dates, grades etc. It became very useful because she knew which classes, she was excelling and which required more improvement.
Planning your days from what assigned down to what outfits to wear will make your days easier.
Don’t fall into the bad habit of procrastinating! It won’t work for nursing school. Nor when you start to work as one
I will create positive academic habits for myself by creating a study space and getting addition help from peers, professors, and outside sources so I can pass with ease.
Honestly I’m gonna try and be comfortable with a professor so that it helps me not feel awkward to ask for help and be able ask questions.
Yea definitely! Try and become acquainted with your professors because it’s your education and you want to finish with the best grade possible
You can never go wrong with creating positive academic habits because these habits will follow through with you into your career lifestyle.
