My department service included acting as Faculty Advisor for the Ambassadors Club, formed in fall 2016. The Ambassadors acted as living examples of hospitality, greeting visitors, conducting tours, and modeling business etiquette. The club disbanded due to the pandemic, but I look forward to regrouping once we begin to host more activities in the future.

Below is a photo of the first group of Ambassadors who assisted in the B-tech graduation ceremony,  presenting their classmate with a good luck photo gift.

The then-newly-formed Ambassadors worked on building their brand, using the pineapple image as their symbol. We purchased pineapple lapel pins and “pinned” new members.

Below, the outgoing club president hands over the reigns to the new president.

The new club officers show off their pineapple neckties as they gave department tours at the college Open House in October, pre- pandemic.

Prior to the formation of the Ambassadors Cub, I was Faculty Advisor for the Food and Wine Club from 2009 to 2016.  We reformed and integrated the club into the Ambassadors, keeping the same club officers, who were all due to graduate. The Food and Wine Club did a variety of programs, working to expose the student body to unusual foods, explored trends, and even hosted a fashion show in which students modeled the various uniforms they wore in their jobs as chefs, wait staff, hosts, and bartenders. The Food and Wine Club never had wine, and students grew tired of fending off requests for wine tastings (apparently the  club was founded as a student chapter of a food and wine association, whose presence was long gone by the time I began working at the college).
