Greetings,
My group was elected to choose a photo from the NYTimes Lens Blog that would exemplify the composition principle of “Framing”.
I feel this photograph strongly shows framing because the drapes/bed sheet being hung creates the shape of a make shift rectangle. Inside this “rectangle” you find the central figure of our photo, a person, whom is also semi-swallowed by a dark abyss. My eyes were funneled to the center most point, and then “framed” or locked into inspecting this area before moving on to any other parts of the photograph.
After a bit of field work, I present my submission:
Both are excellent examples of a frame within a frame.
