Mike Bunn’s, “How To Read like a Writer”.

Mike Bunn’s article “How to read like a writer” talks about the opportunity to think and learn about writing giving the opportunity to students build their own knowledge about the process of writing a poem, article, essay or even their own thoughts.  “How to read like a writer” influences writers to come up with their own form of writing. Bunn argues that writers must identify the choices that an author is making while writing his/her article and being able to understand how someone else can use the author choices as a piece of advise to show any sense of emotions, or ideas. In this article Bunn states really important facts that an author should have, one of them is: “How would readers respond to this technique I’m using, to this sentence, to this word?” and that’s a really important step because you as a writer want to make that connection with the person who’s reading your text, whether is a funny, sad or happy story. The emotions that the writer provides to the reader through his/her text is really important because it should all be about creating emotions and make the reader get in touch with the story that is being told, this emotions would make the reader feel more interested on what is being talked about. Bunn also talks about “Thinking like a writer”, referring to us getting inside of the head of the author by analyzing and understanding the author’s writings. He talks about “trying to understand how the piece of writing was put together” to makes us notice the choices and techniques that the writer is using for us to connect to the writer’s thoughts and have our own opinion as a reader which can help us in the future. As a college student it would really benefit us get that connection with the author because it can prevent us with a better understanding of the topic that is being talked about and that’s something I would like to try in my own writings. In conclusion, Bunn encourages us, as readers to explore the things we read in order to get a similar thought from what the writer is having.

Time Capsule

“Don’t waste your time on things you don’t need”, because sometimes people decide to focus on some things that are not really important without realizing that they have more important things to focus on and that everything can change in just a minute, so do not waste your time in something that would not help you grow as a person.
