Research Starts with a Thesis Statement” from Bad Ideas about Writing

As a kid, I grew up with soccer my whole life. Every time the world cup came on my family treated it like a holiday. When I was around the age of 9 my dad let me joined a soccer team, and I loved it. Soccer was my life, I was surrounded by it, no other sport got me as happy as soccer. Later on, as I got into middle school, my first day of class, when we had recess, all the kids would play basketball,  our school has 10 basketball courts, three of them were full courts. I didn’t understand why basketball was such a big thing for these kids, it was just a hoop and a basketball. As the year went on I made a friend, and he would always play basketball at recess and id just watch because no one would play soccer so I had nothing else to do. One day I asked him to let me shoot the ball and I kept missing, I wasn’t satisfied so everyday art recess id ask to play with him so I can practice, after a few days id start to make some and it makes me feel accomplished and happy.  Around the month of October, we had a day called “jersey day” where we got to wear any jersey we want and I went crazy. I asked my dad if we could go to modells and buy a jersey and he said he’d take me. So we went and I saw a jersey with the name Anthony on it. I didn’t know who it was but it was a nice jersey it was New York Knicks and so I thought it is perfect. When I got home I searched up who this guy was, his name was Carmelo Anthony and right away I found videos, highlight clips, etc. I watched them for hours, seeing this guy play was amazed me. He did things I’ve never seen before. After that I would play everyday try to play like him, I got a basketball hoop in my backyard, everyday id practice. I got better and better id try to shoot like him. Id asks my friend if he could help me learn to play the sport, the rules, what the fouls were, how long the game is, how many players there were, how many teams. As I grew older, got into high school it became apart of me, I watch it every day I keep up with the team, I go to the park every other day,  to this day I haven’t lost my interest in basketball and I don’t I ever will, the NBA is such a huge franchise now in today’s world, not just the sport but, getting involved in other things outside of the game, like charity, giving back, helping out people from different communities, it really is an amazing thing.
