I learned a very important concept which helps a person become a better and credible writer just by crafting quotes properly. The author thoroughly delved into the topic and provided examples of using citations improperly and also taught us how to fix them. I also learned that not making quotations properly will make the reader confused and doubt the credibility of the author. I never thought that quoting improperly can have such an impact on the readers and how there are so many mistakes that can be made while a writer quotes in his writing. Throughout the article, the author classifies six different mistakes/annoyances that a person can make while quoting! One of these classifications were “I swear I did some Research!” in this classification the author explains that even if you provide credible information from a strong source, but you do not point out where the quote is and its relevance, it annoys the reader and leaves them disoriented. My comments on how to use sources are to just use common sense and try to make the quotation flow with the paragraph and not force it to fit in like fitting a circle in a triangle.
In Unit two I used a quote from the webinar “Does Science Disprove God?” by Subboor Ahmad. In this webinar the presenter discusses how science cannot disprove God and also many other forms of information that are vital for civilizations. In this quote Subboor Ahmad explain why the belief that science has disproved God is irrational and he applies the same logic to other important concepts. “The second premise which is that science cannot prove God’s existence, now technically this is true, however, science not being able to prove God’s existence does not go an inch towards the conclusion that there is no God. Science cannot prove the existence of morals, that does not mean morals do not exist, science cannot prove to us the world is real, that does not mean the world is not real.” The author agrees that science cannot prove God’s existence but it is not necessarily the case that it has disproved the existence of a God. He applies the same logic to morals and the reality of the world which cannot be proved by science that these concepts exist but at the same time it does not mean that they do not exist.
