When James Baldwin states ” the world is bigger ” this mainly would be referring towards the student.Although he may just be a student there is simply more to it almost like a bigger picture.Due his race he did not have the capability to go and experience other parts of the world more so where he is well much respected and limited to certain opportunities let alone being discriminated against. How ever I believe what he is really trying to say things may not always be the way we perceive them.History has a very long story behind it.But history is built upon lies so not everything is as beautiful as it may seem.As a classmate has stated that these lies are what represents a false image .This false image is pretty much corrupting our minds making us believe things we shouldn’t. For example when slavery was abolished it very astonishing and relief to hear. But the cold hard truth had shocked many because it only freed slaves in the north but not south. Not to mention schools don’t teach many of their students this either.Everyone deserves to know the truth of our history. There so much that is being hidden from us and were trapped in dome.Although we might live in a world built upon lies there are still many opportunities that will come forth. There is always an alternative to reach our goals. Our current generation is strictly being avoided from the truth .Kids today maybe consumed watching TV playing games etc but if there is one thing the upcoming generation should know that is the truth of our history.Even today in schools they avoid teaching us real world things for example , taxes the history behind taxes,Not to mention one lie were being told is where our tax money is being spent . The government is cutting off healthcare for many Americans for military benefits. So what Baldwin is trying to say is go past the lies and dig deep into the truth

Learning more about the truth is very important, we see only what the media wants us to see and it corrupts us. I don’t know why people would hide the truth with lies, those people are the ones that truly corrupt the minds of many individuals.
I agree that learning the truth is often limited from where we live and how we were raised. Some of things that happen in the world we don’t even take notice because we were not taught yet.
