Maybe I Could Save Myself by Writing

As the name may suggest “education narrative” involved teaching through some sort of literature or art. Whether you are teaching yourself or an intended audience, someone is learning from that narrative. As a writer allowing your mind to take over and expressing your emotions or thoughts can vary in looks or structure, but ultimately you are using your creativity and experiences to shape the narrative. A lot of people usually want to know that there are people who are going through similar situations to them, this provides them comfort and can spark inspiration. For instance, José Olivarez writes in his article, “What I wanted and desperately needed in those moments was a book to help me make sense of all my questions. I didn’t need answers, but I really wanted to know that my family was not alone.” Olivarez at that moment of his life wanted to know that there is hope, that he was not alone, he wanted to feel felt. Don’t we all. If a narrative is able to touch its audience in some way or another, that would make it a good narrative.

To start off an education narrative it would be very helpful to start with something you are passionate about, something that you think the reader would be invested in and they can say they learned something new about themselves or the world when they finish reading the narrative. Making an outline of what the narrative would look like and figuring out which pieces fit into which will help clarify the process and make it easier. While writing the story it’s important to remember the conventions and other elements of writing. Furthermore, asking for feedback and working on the narrative and analyzing it can take it to a higher level.

Questions I would like to know about writing my own education narrative are, how are the topics going to be determined? Is there a limit we need to reach in terms of words? And How will we be graded

I believe that education narratives are popular, because of the points that you’ve mentioned above! “A lot of people usually want to know that there are people who are going through similar situations to them, this provides them comfort and can spark inspiration.” Not only does the piece of writing comfort readers because of how they can relate, but I think it can also provide some sort of satisfaction to them, knowing that someone has experienced what they are going through and are striving hard to become better.
