  • Project 1 Wrap Up
  • Project 2 Intro
    • What are the elements that define architecture?
    • Space, light, solid, void, scale, proportion
    • Together we’ll look at some examples of small structures that manipulate these elements qualities to create specific spatial qualities
  • In Class Activity – Seating
    • Take a look at different seating types and their uses
      • Measure and sketch a variety of different seating options in our space
      • Understand the proportions of typical elements
      • How does the seat match (or not match) the human form?
      • Try to identify the different ways each seat can be used
    • Once complete, lay out a 20′ x 20′ space that utilizes 3 different types of seating:
      • Social seating for at least 2 people or a small group
      • Private seating meant specifically for 1 person
      • Flex seating that can be used by an individual or multiple people at the same time
    • Think about what these seats should look like, but also how they might best be arranged in the space
    • These should be scaled drawings, but do not have to be hardline drafted, so freehand sketching is ok as long as it’s to scale
      • Document the space and seating types however best works for you
        • Plans, sections, 3D drawings, whatever works to show off your ideas
    • We will pin up and review together once complete
