To me, I think of selfies as a form of self expression. They are used to show off ones look, work of art, or something else that they take pride in, usually accompanied by some sort of caption to go along with the photo if it is posted to social media. Some people take selfies just to post them and show off their good looks, others may take them for the purpose of holding on to memories to look back on after the events that took place when the photos were taken end. I, for one, take selfies sometimes when I feel photogenic that day (usually after a fresh haircut and shape up), and I usually want to show off a bit by posting said selfies on Facebook or Snapchat. Sometimes, like Cindy, I do the “food porn” photos to show off what I’m eating and where exactly I am eating the food I am showing off. I think Cindy’s photos are definitely a form of self expression, showing off her artistic taste by warping and editing her photos a certain way, which displays her creative mind through photography and photo editing. It also shows, from her point of view in a sense, what she may consider a unique form of art, using her face as the canvas and one touch of a finger with a photo editing app as a paintbrush, so to speak.

A good post with use of a strong painterly metaphor of face and app to canvas and paintbrush.
