Photography is a puzzle waiting to be solved. Why do I say that? When a photo is taken from many years ago, every person has a different perspective of it. That photo was taken with a meaning behind; the background, objects in the area, clothing, or face expression all give clues to solve this puzzle. “Selfies” can also be known as a highlight in one’s life. Almost everyone has taken a selfie in their life span, including myself. Selfies in modern society is used for many things, they capture a special moment during that time. For example, visiting and exploring another country to show everyone you have been there before and your experience there. Social media helps portray these moments to family and friends. Since all the photographs are uploaded online to social media people will not have to worry about losing their favorite moment in places if they lose original source of it i.e phone and camera. Cindy Sherman’s Instagram album captures her audience in a unique way. The apps and ways she uses to edit her photo brings out features of her face in different ways. She does not use it to make herself look more “pretty”, she uses it to create art. One photo she uploaded made it look like she was a woman from the 1970s. All of Ms. Sherman’s photos are a piece of art that caption the moment she is showing to us.

This is a very thoughtful post, and you point out one of the most unique characteristics of Sherman’s Instagram selfies, the use of ugliness to present herself is very compelling.
