Journal Entry # 2: About The Company/My Role

PropNspoon was first known as Props for Today founded by Dyann Klein in 1980. Klein was a food stylist who was unable to find white dinner ware for rent and found it a hassle to buy and return items. This inconvenience lead her to fill the needs of many with a similar problem. She began with dinner ware and soon moved up to contemporary furniture and antiques. PropNspoon now has a huge warehouse located at 32-00 Skillman Ave, 3rd Floor, L.I.C, NY 11101. The warehouse is an endless maze of all the stuff Klein has collected and bought. The company’s primary business is to rent used or new furniture. They also sell their really old goods. What helps these old goods go off the shelves fast is that many of them were used or around celebrities. PropNspoon rents to a variety of clients which fall under: tv/film, staging, photography, tradeshow, special events, etc.

I am currently working as an intern photographer. My job there is to photograph smalls (small furniture pieces) and also other furniture and vignettes. After I shoot the pieces requested by my superiors, I have to upload them to their external hard drive. I have to organize the photographs and place them in their correct folder. I also have to do retouching if necessary, but they explained that they have a graphics person who takes care of the rest. Finally I have to plug in the photo and the furniture number into their excel sheet and plug in other information such as its
