To be honest, I really didn’t enjoy reading Passing. It seems to me that the relationship between Clare and Irene is always back and forth (there are times when Irene is attracted to Clare in some way and Irene would want Clare to be out of her life.) On the other hand, I do feel bad for both Irene and Clare because their husbands weren’t being very understanding. For example, Brian doesn’t seem to understand Irene’s worry and point of view regarding to their son, Junior. Jack, doesn’t seem to be very understand to love Clare for who she really is. You suppose to love a person for who they are, not based on their skin color (this goes to both Clare and Jack). To me, I think that these characters have very weak relationships with each other.
