Question 01 –
Why would you use a mask in Photoshop?
Question 02 –
If you make a mistake with the brush on the mask, what can you do?
One reason to use a mask in photoshop would be to conceal a certain part of an image on a particular layer while working on a project. Being able to do this allows you to isolate only certain parts as opposed to the entire layer, making the task much easier to manage. A few other reasons to use a mask in photoshop is that they’re very helpful when creating composites, great for being able to modify a background, and removing or cutting out specific images or design elements from an original image. This is what allows you to take parts from or sample different images from other places and bring them together to make a new thing.
If you make a mistake with the brush tool on a mask in photoshop, you can do a couple different things. First thing I would do is hit Command + Z and that should take it back one step so you can start over. Another thing you could do is make sure the blend modes and the brush opacity is on the right setting. I would hit Command + Z first, then check and see if the blend mode of the brush tool is set to normal. If not, change it back. Also, make sure the opacity is where I’d like it to be because this can cause a brush stroke to look significantly different.
By using a mask, you can make non-destructive edits to an image or layer. Instead of deleting or erasing pixels, you can hide them using a mask. This way, you can always go back and adjust the mask if needed to reveal the hidden pixels. Masks are also useful when you want to make selective adjustments to an image or layer. For example, you can use a mask to darken or lighten only certain areas of an image, or to apply a filter to only part of a layer. When combining multiple images or layers in Photoshop, masks can be used to blend the edges of the layers together seamlessly. By masking out parts of a layer, you can make it appear as if it’s behind another layer.
If you catch the mistake right away, you can use the Undo command (Ctrl+Z on Windows or Command+Z on Mac) to go back to the previous step.If you need to remove part of the mask, you can switch to the Eraser tool and erase the areas you don’t want. Make sure the Eraser tool is set to “Foreground color” or “Background color” instead of “Erase to History” or “Eraser” mode. You can also use the Brush tool with a white or black foreground color to add or remove parts of the mask. Just make sure you have the right color selected, and adjust the brush size and hardness as needed. If you want to make a more precise adjustment to the mask, you can access the mask options by clicking on the mask thumbnail in the Layers panel and then selecting the “Properties” button. From here, you can adjust the mask density, feathering, and other settings.Another way to fix a mistake is by using the Layer mask history feature. This allows you to go back to a previous state of the mask by clicking on the “Layer Mask” in the History panel and dragging it onto the Layer mask thumbnail in the Layers panel.
Using a mask in photoshop helps you hide or get rid of parts that you don’t want to be shown without having them actually removed. With using a mask you can take a part a picture or add to it without destroying the original. masking also helps you focus on one thing at a time.
If you make a mistake with t h e brush on the mask in photoshop you don’t have to delete the layer. The most easiest way to undo your mistake is to click command and z to go back and you can start your redo. You can also change the opacity and flow of the brush to gain more control of what you are doing.

Using a mask allows you to remove elements without destroying them. The original work remains untouched while you can, for example, remove the background from an image. If you make a mistake with the brush on a mask you can just undo that or erase it and the image underneath will still remain unharmed.

The reason why you would use a mask in photoshop it to make sure you are working on the layer of a picture. A mask is a layer where you are not actual working on the main photo but more of adding edits to the photo without touch the actual one. The mask you are able to see which part of the photo you worked on. As an example when wanting to work on a background or adding background you would want to work on the masked layered.
