Question 01 –
How do you navigate to another corner of your artwork?
Question 02 –
What is the value of using that tool?
Typically, what I would do to navigate to different corners of a particular artboard in Illustrator–or even Photoshop I think–is first go up to the toolbar and select ‘Artboard tool.’ The keyboard shortcut for this option is ‘Shift + O.’ Now that I have the Artboard Tool open, I can grab whichever artboard I like, given I have multiple boards, and move it around to where I can have a more comfortable access to another side of the workspace. If you want to move an artboard up or down, simply select it, and click ‘Move up’, or ‘Move down.’ Another way to move artboards around is by rearranging them. You can change the layout style, order direction, number of columns, and spacing between artboards. Check the Move Artwork with Artboard option if you want to move the design within the artboard together when you move artboards.
The Artboard tool is important because it allows you to maintain and edit a particular design project and/or multiple design projects consistently and simultaneously. Understanding how to use Artboard tools is an essential and fundamental skill that all designers need to have. It allows you to more effectively navigate an artboard to any position and move them around as need be which is obviously very useful.
Think of your artwork as a large sheet of paper to help you move to another area of it. In digital art, you can move the image around to see different parts just like you can with paper! Click and hold on the artwork with your mouse or touchpad, then drag it in the desired direction. Drag up and to the left if you want to see the top-left corner. Drag down and to the right if you want to see the bottom-right corner. To explore and see different aspects of your artwork, imagine moving the paper in different directions.
The benefit of using the navigation tool when creating digital art is that it makes it simple to explore and go to various parts of your work. You may inspect and work on particular features or portions thanks to this feature without becoming lost in the composition as a whole. You may precisely and quickly analyze and change various areas of your artwork by scrolling to different corners. With the aid of this tool, you may pay attention to particular aspects while maintaining a clear knowledge of the composition as a whole. Your workflow will be improved, you’ll save time, and you’ll have better control over the creative process, which will increase the quality of your digital artwork.
In both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, you can navigate to different areas of your artwork using various methods. Here are the common ways to navigate to another corner of your artwork:
