Hello my name is Rebecca Lawson. I am West Indian, my family is from Guyana and Trinidad. The West Indian culture has influenced my life, from the way I speak, to the way I cook and how I dress. From watching the video it is very easy to forget what you were taught as a child, especially when you grow up around others that are completely different from you. I also recently started writing poetry and it helps me express myself when times are hard or if something is on my mind.

Oooo, poetry! I’m terrible at it, but I admire poets so much. Y’all know how to create pictures and emotions with very few words, and that’s not easy!
