Is a Selfie Art?

The “selfie” can be art, but is not always.  I think what can make a shot like this art is the intention of the photographer, this is similar to any other medium used for creation.  While the majority of selfie’s people take are average I have seen many exceptions to this and this is something that is pointed out people have been doing since the advent of photography.
