MODULE 3 CASE STUDY: FLOOR SYSTEMS AND STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS

  • Complete Framing sketch you started in class to determine span dimensions and beam + decking dimensions
  • Calculate Framing Spans using Rules of Thumb
  • Use your calculations to complete the 2-D drawings of Framing Beams and Decking
  • FOLLOW STEPS ON THE SLIDES FROM CLASS:
  • see slides here from class for steps for calculating dimensions
    • example is wood framing; steps are similar for steel + concrete
  • Draw structural grid – measured drawing at 1/8″=1′-0″
    • Start axonometric if you have beam sizes and decking span determined
  • SUBMIT ASSIGNMENT TO DROPBOX HERE
