What is infinity? Infinity is a commonly known concept in math which means a property that can increase or decrease by every infinite quantity. However, to me infinity is something that is endless, something that is hard to tell where it begins and where it ends. So to think in a creative way, infinity can be found in several different places including nature, politics, science and even in our own kitchen. Basically, this meaning of infinity that mathematics gives isn’t an exact definition and is very broad; the idea of infinity is interesting, imaginative and unique. Therefore this concept of infinity can be seen in many places and in many things.
One way you can think of infinity and see is in food. Generally, a standard pizza pie takes the form of a circle with melted mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce on top and a bread crust, but most important, the pizza is a circle. A circle can be considered as endless, with no beginning and no end. A circle is an unbreakable cycle. Every point on the circle is similar, indistinguishable from the last, so tracing along a circle can be never ending.
In all, infinity is a very interesting concept in many ways. So be aware, that infinity can be seen all over, next time you are enjoying your pizza pie, and think about how it can represent the theory of infinity. The pizza is endless, until you take a piece to eat.
i really like this post. i agree that a circle represents infinity because it doesn’t have a finite point, but what i especially love about your post is that you implemented the concept of FOOD in it!!! Seriously, you can’t go wrong with pizza. This quote had me craving pizza:
“Generally, a standard pizza pie takes the form of a circle with melted mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce on top and a bread crust, but most important, the pizza is a circle.”
… the pizza is just a circle…. a delicious circle…..
thanks and I know, right. I took this picture yesterday. That Philly pizza pie was good.
I spoke about this in my own post, but I don’t see a circle as infinite.
Though it has no observable beginning, it does have a limit; a perceivable and measurable area of space that it occupies. You can’t tell where that pizza starts, but you can tell how much space it takes up. The circle ends at its perimeter. Infinity doesn’t behave that way.
That pizza looks delicious though.
I like the way you justified a “pizza” is similar to infinity, I would agree to it in the sense that if you follow a pizza pie along the crust you will never reach a dead end. Now I want pizza for lunch.
