BP 3 & Related Stuff

Hi Everyone,

I had a fun time in class yesterday. Thanks for your participation. I think we got a lot done and I left feeling energized and excited. Hope you did too.  Here’s what’s on for the coming week.

  1. Due Sept. 18, Monday morning by 8:00 a.m. You should read your partner’s Tech Lit Narrative and offer them suggestions for revision. Read it through and make sure to point out the opportunities they have for making things clearer or for further development. You should offer several suggestions for improvement. Praise is nice, but we get better by others pointing out areas where we can improve. You are only required to offer commentary on your partner’s piece, but I recommend reading the others as well. Seeing what others have done will likely allow you to see opportunities in how to improve your own writing. If you leave comments for improvement on the others, you’ll get extra credit. Up to you.
  2. Writing Center: You should go or zoom before you turn in your final draft, which is due Thursday, hopefully before class.
  3. Tech-Lit, part 2. As stated in class, there are two tasks to complete as you continue working on your Tech-Lit narrative. Your job is to think about your “position” (your stance, your location) towards that narrative you wrote concerning your relationship with orality, literacy, and electracy/technology. You should also think about your “disposition” (your attitude or mood). Remember we reviewed that your position and disposition come from the “cultural archetypes” that you have inherited as being thrown into this world, and they also come from your own idiosyncratic experiences that are unique to you. These two factors are places of invention/creation. Locating how you have been influenced by the culture at large and your own unique experiences give you the opportunity to find how you are positioned and dispositioned. How you incorporate this section into your paper is up to you. I’ll only say that it should be clear in reading it that you have completed this part of the assignment. Concerning the image  or emblem that is representational of your career trajectory that we discussed in class, we’ll come back to it. You have enough to do and we’ll investigate this idea further down the road, so don’t worry about that for now, just work on the position/disposition aspect.
  4. Blog Post 3. You should read the McLuhan book through page 100. You job is to take something from the reading and illustrate it in the same vein as the illustrator of the book, Susan Willmarth. How you do this is up to you. It can be hand drawn or digitally drawn. Underneath your drawing, provide an explanation of what you were getting at in your drawing. There is a lot of freedom here so be experimental and have fun with it.
  5. Remember, for both your paper and your drawing, please upload them to Google Drive or 365 and link to them, as we’re running out of space on this blog.

That’s it. Have a great week.
